About this project

Built by your neighbors.

Fix Central Hudson is a community-built platform for Central Hudson Gas & Electric customers in the Hudson Valley, New York.

We built this because Central Hudson has a documented history of billing errors — estimated readings marked as actual, bills that don't match real usage, and charges that disappear from online portals with no explanation.

In 2024, the NY Public Service Commission reached a $64.59 million settlement with Central Hudson over billing system failures that began in 2021 and caused customer complaints to spike from 4,500 to 45,000 per month. But the problems haven't stopped.

What we do

Collect bill data

From customers across the Hudson Valley to identify patterns of overcharging.

Detect anomalies

By comparing bills to weather data, personal history, and community averages.

Make it easy to take action

File PSC complaints, contact elected officials, and demand accountability.

Provide a space to talk

Our forum lets neighbors share experiences and coordinate.

Your privacy

We take your privacy seriously. We do not collect names, addresses, or account numbers through our bill intake form. We only ask for zip code, bill amounts, and kWh usage — the minimum needed to detect patterns.

If you upload a photo of your bill, we strongly recommend crossing out any personal information before uploading.

Not affiliated

This site is not affiliated with Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation, Fortis Inc., or the NY Public Service Commission. It is an independent, community-run project.
